I am currently paying minute attention to correct hip motion in my Kata.
Each motion should begin in the opposite hip to the strike or kick and then transfer to the striking hip and finally return to neutral.
This produces twice the power and keeps balance even with very vigorous execution.
These subtleties might be easy to miss in a beginning home student with no previous Karate training.

Yeah. I agree. I have been applying Tom Kurz scientific stretching principles with settling results. This has also assisted with hip motion
